Cosmic Bhagavad Gita
Bhagavad Gita has become a stimulant for my
dormant intellect. I have been a student of this scripture from my teens. It
was in the troubled times that I was introduced to this song in the hostel
life. Ever since the first reading almost at all other times I felt that I
should read it one more time. The journey through the teens, twenties, thirties
and forties was very interesting as it changed my life style with different
interpretations of this contradictory scripture. It also gave different
meanings of the same shloka with aging and while experiencing a social and a
working life.
Two visual images in the Bhagavad Gita became very dear to me. One is the
Chariot with Krishna, Arjun and the second was the cosmic image of Krishna. My
engineering knowledge made a difference in understanding the scripture with
science and philosophy. I enjoyed the chapters of the glories of Krishna and
where he uses the mono syllable ‘I’.
I introduced the Bhagavad Gita to my first son in his late teens and we
together spent many hours giving our interpretations especially during the
month of Shravan. There was much contradiction from our understanding and the
summaries given by many Swami and authors interpreting the Bhagavad Gita.
In my fifties, sixties and now seventies, the understanding of the
Bhagavad Gita has been fixated to the multimedia era. With the encouragement
from a priest from a religious group I wrote a brief summary (Me and My Gita)
of each chapter to encourage readers to read the original text. We found the
Shravan month and ideal time to introduce this thought.
The Cosmic Bhagavad Gita is my writings on the developing science of this
modern era. Please read this Blog and give your thoughts that I can write on
‘You and Your Gita’.
